Embroidery: What It Can Do For You
Either using specialized pre-created files or having our technician digitize another image we are able to created stitched images and text on numerous kinds of fabric. This is done using specialized industrial embroidery machines that are hooked up to our computers. This allows us to create multiple units with the exact same image, quickly and accurately, once everything is set up to go. Everything from a small single-color monogram to a huge detailed multi-color image on the back of a jacket can be done through our embroidery department.

Embroidery is not just for small left chest logos and hats, although these are two of the most common things you will find the technique used on. You can see numerous examples of this throughout our Embroidery Gallery section. If you want to learn more about how we create these embroidered works you can click on any of the sub-menu options to the left.

The sections that follow tell you what you need to know to see if this method is right for your needs.

What are my size limitations?
Example of Embroidery Hoops
This is not a simple question to answer, as it depends on several connected factors.

The sizes of our hoops is the first factor. All items to be embroidered have to be held in place by these special hoops that lock into the machines. They come in numerous sizes, from very tiny to rather large, but we are limited to nothing larger than 11" by 16.5" at most (as shown in the picture) and it can be difficult to get that full size since you have to account for some room around the edge. There are also special hoops and braces for doing hats and some specialty items.

What you want done is another factor, as a continual image has to be done at one time without removing the item from the machine. Any time the material has to be moved or re-hooped it is nearly impossible to perfectly line it up with the previous work. If it's a number of different placements of disconnected images that don't have to be placed at exact locations, like snowflakes, the area factor can become nearly limitless.

The last factor is that of the material itself. Seams, zippers, pockets, and other difficult or thicker areas can cause embroidery to not work, or at least not work well. This means that it's hard to cover certain areas with an image if that area is broken up by one of these obstacles. The extent of these depends on the item and material it's made of, so feel free to ask our helpful staff if you have any questions.

What kinds of fabrics can I have embroidered?
Although some things work better than others, pretty much any fabric can be embroidered. We have even had great luck with leathers and some other non-woven materials as well. There are some cases where the fabric may have a pension for running or breaking and this can increase that chance, but most of those are not things that the average person would have embroidered. If there is any question about weather something you want embroidered would work or not, feel free to ask.

We would like to take a moment to say that if you are purchasing the garments or materials from us we will replace any that the embroidery does cause some problem with, usually before you even see them. If, however, you bring in your own garments, we can not be held responsible for problems that the embroidery process may cause, although we do our best to make sure these don't happen. The chances of a problem are very slim either way, but we have to say it.

How many color choices do I have?
Colors of thread
Embroidery requires specific threads to be used for each color being included in the desired image, which limits how many colors you tend to want to include into any job, but what colors you can choose from are nearly limitless. As you can see from this image, we keep a large stock of standard colors in house, so we have what we need for most jobs that come through. The most common colors are kept in larger quantities to ensure we don't run out in the middle of a job.

Not only do we keep dozens of spools in house, to cover all the basic needs for most jobs, we can also special order all sorts of other colors if we don't have what matches your specific needs in stock. Just ask our helpful staff and we will be happy to make sure we get as close to your desired colors as we can. But be aware that some special orders may require some extra charges to cover the costs of getting the threads.

Can I use my own designs or are there pre-created ones?
We are able to do something with pretty much any idea or design you happen to want. This can be something from our wide catalog of pre-generated embroidery images, ranging from simple lettering to entire multi-colored scenic designs, but isn't limited to those. We are also able to add text to (in, near, or around) nearly any design you choose for little or no extra cost (depending on the amount and size).

I you don't want to use a stock image and have an idea or design of your own you want to use we are usually able to do something for you. This may take some work to digitize the image and make it into an embroidery file we can use, but in the end we are generally able to make most things work.
